Venture: General questions

What makes the Venture different from the Vision and Voyager cameras?

The Venture is ideal for customers who are looking for a trailer camera with an independent screen that doesn’t use data or WIFI.

  • Vision is a completely portable horse camera that can be used in multiple locations; from trailers to barns and paddocks. It uses a 4G/5G SIM card and is best suited to monitoring horses in fixed locations with good cellular coverage.
  • Voyager connects directly to your phone via a LAN (similar to Bluetooth signal) and works best when your phone stays relatively close to the camera. It doesn’t require phone signal or data and the live video feed is viewed via a free app on your phone.
  • Venture includes its own screen / monitor and offers a longer-range wireless connection, making it ideal for larger trailers and longer towing setups. It doesn’t use data or need signal or WIFI.
How does the Venture camera connect to the monitor?

The Venture camera connects directly to its dedicated monitor using a 2.4GHz digital wireless signal. It does not require Wi-Fi, a SIM card, or a mobile phone to operate, making it ideal for monitoring your horse while travelling.

Can I add more than one camera to the monitor? How many cameras can be connected at the same time?

Yes, up to four cameras can be connected to the same monitor via the multi view function. However we currently don’t sell cameras separately.

I already have a monitor installed in my vehicle. Can I connect the Venture camera to my existing monitor (including Car Play)?

No. The Venture camera is designed to work exclusively with the dedicated screen supplied by Equine Eye. It is not compatible with third-party monitors or in-vehicle display systems.

I travel for more than 8 hours at a time. Is there a way to keep the Venture camera continuously charged during long journeys?

Yes. For longer trips, we recommend connecting the Venture camera to a continuous power source (a power outlet or battery pack) in your trailer or vehicle via the power cord. This allows the camera to remain powered throughout your journey without relying solely on its internal battery.

Can I record the live feed from the Venture camera? I'm not sure how this works, or my SD card corrupted, as I don't have a spare SD card to test with.

No the Venture camera does not have recording capability, it is designed for live viewing. If you require recording please consider our two other cameras - the Voyager and the Vision - both of which are trailer cameras that have recording functionality.

My stable is close to my house. Can I use the Venture camera to monitor my horse from there?
  1. The Venture is primarily designed for horse transport and travel.

If your stable is within the camera's operating range and there are minimal obstructions between the camera and monitor, it may work. However, range can vary depending on walls, buildings, trees, and other obstacles.

If you're looking for continuous remote monitoring at your stable, the Equine Eye Vision camera is the better choice, as it allows you to view your horse remotely using a cellular connection.
